Cause of World War II:
The Treaty of Versailles was the main reason the Axis Powers declared war and began fighting with other countries, the Allies. According to Adolf Hitler's, Mein Kampf in 1927, "Never forget that the most sacred right in the world is the right to the soil which man wishes to till himself and the most sacred sacrafice is the blood which he spills for this soil." Hitler was hungry for Germany to gain back their land and for the Germany Empire to grow. Hitler was bitter about the Treaty of Versailles and how germany lost their land, military, money, and respect. Hitler wanted to bring Germany back into Power. According to History1900's, "On the morning of December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After just two hours of bombing, more than 2,400 Americans were dead, 21 ships* had either been sunk or damaged, and more than 188 U.S. aircraft destroyed." Japan did not get what they wanted out of the treaty of versailles so they were also bitter. They bombed Pearl Harbor which is in the Pacific area that Japan wanted to conquer. According to history.com, "Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union surprised the world by signing the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact, in which the two countries agreed to take no military action against each other for the next 10 years... The German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact fell apart in June 1941, when Nazi forces invaded the Soviet Union." Germany was power hungry and decided to attacl their ally Russia, breaking the non-aggressian act and sending Russia to the allies. Germany wouldn't stop until they had all land and were the most dominant country in the world. According to http://www.britannica.com, "Pact of Steel, Alliance between Germany and Italy. Signed by Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini on May 22, 1939, it formalized the 1936 Rome-Berlin Axis agreement, linking the two countries politically and Militarily." This brought Italy into the war as a German Ally because they were also let down in the treaty of versailles. Italy wanted more power and was also afraid of Germany.
